Who are we?

Coco and Chris Parker have long had a passion for both wood and trees/forests. Combining these loves results in a commitment to wood recycling. They are still using their recycled wood kitchen they built 30+ years ago in the early years of their marriage (it's in their home full of recycled wood floors and furniture). It is this passion and commitment that has led to Turnaround Timbers.

  • Chris

When not at the Turnaround workshop, Chris will probably be pottering in his home workshop, chatting with mates, playing his guitar, catching up with his kids, or out trail running in the old growth forests of the Blue Mountains and surrounds.

  • Coco

When not at the Turnaround workshop, Coco will probably be playing or teaching the piano, mosaicking, op-shopping, catching up with her kids, or out bush walking in the old growth forests of the Blue Mountains and surrounds.

Why Turnaround Timbers?

We’ve always had a passion for caretaking the creation; to honour its beauty and to access its resources sustainably and with gratitude. The rate of harvesting of Australian and international old growth forests is unsustainable. Perhaps the first step in stewardship of these forests is to turnaround the practice of dumping large quantities of the already harvested wood into landfill when houses and buildings reach the end of life.

The mission of Turnaround Timbers is to reduce our impact by providing a hub to recycle wood, and by supplying quality recycled wood to makers, DIYers, builders, and dreamers, in a welcoming, community-focused setting. We offer a high-quality supply of recycled and salvaged wood comparable in price to new wood being sold by timber merchants that comes from plantations and old growth forests. An option that simply feels better than buying unsustainable new wood from your local Big Green Shed.

We are hoping to nudge woodworkers, DIYers, and building professionals towards embracing a more circular model of wood consumption. We hope to be part of a turnaround in attitude and practice.
